About Us...Because of the ever growing demand for affordable website design, St. Louis based Owen Design Services began creating easy-to-navigate, artfully designed turnkey websites. Having over 9 years advertising experience, Sharon Owen, owner and designer knows exactly what it takes to build a strong web presence online.
One of the biggest misconceptions about web designers is that we’re just web designers and computer programmers — that the scope of our skills start and end with web design. That couldn't be farther from the truth. The truth of the matter is that the skills and attributes of a great website designer start with A for Advertising guru and end with Z for Zealous efforts. I am an advertising guru and a zealous and devoted web designer, humbly.
As a web designer I fill dozens of roles throughout any given day. On a call with a prospective client, after the agreement for building the site is sorted, I become a researcher, combing through the client’s outdated website and/or past advertising venues , looking at analytics and identifying breakdowns and room for improvement. Soon after, I become a content curator, wading through the piles of content in PDF format sent by the client, identifying what works and what doesn't. I also edit content too, so I consider myself self a copy editor as well.
Then I become the architect, laying out content to get the most important messages across, while ensuring that everything in our layouts remain easy to find. Designing the website is done only after careful thought regarding layout and website goals. I manage client expectations and work through revisions. I write code or investigate who can do a better job (when necessary). I introduce the content management system and train my clients if necessary. I can create and update the brand’s presence on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. I can advertise your business on Craigslist. I then become your search engine optimization guru too. I maintain or teach how to maintain the site so the content is fresh and accurate. I check in on the website analytics and metrics to see how the website is performing.

About Sharon Owen & Fenton Mo based Owen Web Design
Along with being a web designer, Sharon is an advertising guru. She loves learning anything and everything regarding advertising; preferably internet and online advertising. Her advertising career out of college began working for Yellow Book, a large nationwide yellow page publisher, selling advertising to small businesses throughout St Louis and the Metro East. She met personally with 1000's of different industries during her tenure, leaving her with a broad working knowledge about many small business industries. After Yellow Book, she took her advertising passion and brought it full force into the digital world, where she became an Internet marketing consultant for ReachLocal, one of Google's largest adword resellers.
She grew up in South St Louis City, attending St Elizabeth's high school, and furthered her education by achieving a BA in History at Fontbonne University in 2000.
In college, during the hay day of the dot-com boom, she bought her first computer and fell in love with it; learning everything she possibly could by "googleing" it. Needless to say, her computer is her fourth greatest love, behind her children & her husband, her extended family, and her dog Layla.
